‘Tis the season to be jolly! As many would say, we’ve finally reached everyone’s favorite home stretch of December, where we wrap up our year and prepare for what may be the most beloved holiday of all, Christmas! To celebrate this, I have gathered data from 139 of our very own students and staff, and I am here to share with you what STVM’s favorite Christmas song is.
Do they even listen to Christmas Music?
Before we can actually figure out what STVM’s favorite Christmas song is, we need to see who is listening to Christmas music in the first place. Of our 139 respondents, 113 said they listen to Christmas music. While 24 claim that they are unwillingly listening to Christmas music. Then, finally, we have two Grinches who do not listen to any Christmas music.
Losing the two who said no, we still have 137 left in the running!
The big Question
For our remaining respondents, I asked the primary question: what is their personal favorite Christmas song? There were six choices and an option that allowed them to write down a Christmas song that was not already on the list. The offered options were, All I Want for Christmas is You by Mariah Carey, Underneath the Tree by Kelly Clarkson, Jingle Bells, Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree by Brenda Lee, Little Drummer Boy by Harry Simeone Chorale, and We Wish You a Merry Christmas.
Here are our top ten songs enjoyed by our STVM students and staff.
- All I Want for Christmas is You: 36 votes (25.4%)
- Underneath the Tree: 22 votes (15.5%)
- Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree: 19 votes (13.4%)
- Last Christmas: 8 votes (5.6%)
- Carol of the Bells: 7 votes (4.9%)
- Little Drummer Boy: 5 votes (3.5%)
- Santa Tell me (Ariana Grande): 5 votes (3.5%)
- The Christmas Song (Nat King Cole): 3 votes (2.1%)
- Pentatonix discography: 2 votes (1.4%)
- Mistletoe (Justin Bieber): 2 votes (1.4%)
This leaves us with 33 miscellaneous votes (23.3%), where they were the only one to pick a specific song, including songs like Rudolph The Red Red-Nosed Reindeer, Baby It’s Cold Outside, I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas, Fortnite Christmas, and of course, one jolly fellow who claimed that their favorite Christmas song was in fact all of them!
What is STVM’s Favorite Christmas Song
With all of the data collected, we are officially able to declare All I Want For Christmas Is You as STVM’s favorite Christmas song. Hopefully, this little survey helped -maintain a merry mood, and I hope you have a wonderful winter break, Irish!
