Ohio did not disappoint winter fans as she shared a snowy blast on St. Patrick’s Day 2026. But to be honest, the true Ohioians expect winter to rear its head in March!
For the students and staff of STVM, this wintry blast brings to mind the not-so-distant past of a January full of snow days and delays. Specifically, the week of January 30th.
Jan 30 2026, was the kick-off to Catholic Schools Week- a time-honored tradition, great daily fun for Catholic School students and teachers. While snow days are usually celebrated, these particular snow days meant a limit to the fun. The biggest blow? The need to reschedule the Student vs Faculty Basketball game!
Luckily, St. Patrick’s Day helped us all out!
On this particularly snowy day, the STVM students gathered in the LeBron James Arena to cheer on their fellow classmates. The new scoreboards were in full effect with graphics designed by STVM broadcasting students to help keep the crowd engaged. All arrived with energy and excitement.
After a few minutes of warming up, the entire arena stood for the pre-game prayer and anthem. The sportsmanship filled the room as the officials started the game.
Special shout-out to the amazing officials: Justin Robinson ’27, Jaden Jacobs ‘27, Trayvion Jones ’28, Aidan Reynolds ’28, and Tatum Smith ‘26!
While the teachers put up… well… attempted to put up a real fight, the students won in the end.
Final score – Students 26 and Teachers 21.
Maybe the teachers can use the off-season to work on their free throws… Until next year!
