St.Vincent-St.Mary vs Archbishop Hoban Varsity Basketball Game

On Friday, January 23, 2026. St.Vincent-St.Mary’s Varsity basketball team played arch-rival, Archbishop Hoban.

STVM defeated Hoban 58-51 in a “Holy War” rivalry game at the University of Akron’s Rhodes Arena.

During most of the game, the two teams tied back-to-back. St.Vincent-St.Mary’s senior DeCarlo Prince reached 1,000 career points during the game. Also, Leigh Cotton, a senior, scored 16 points to lead STVM to victory.

John Johnson led Hoban with 14 points, and Nico Caporaletti with 13 points.

The game featured high emotions and tight plays, with Hoban rallying within three points in the final minutes.

Chloe Sommerville is currently a sophomore at St. Vincent-St. Mary High School. This is her first year in The Leprechaun Network (TLN). She absolutely loves cheering because it really helps her stay active and be part of a team, She even cheers for STVM. Cheer helps her feel more connected to my school community. She is also interested in math and science, while she enjoys solving challenging problems and searching, how things work. Outside of school she has a passion for dance, which she finds both fun and a wonderful way to express herself differently.
