Italy hosted the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan and Cortina. The USA Olympic teams earned 33 medals across ten different Olympic Games. The USA Olympic representatives have earned 12 gold medals, 12 silver medals, and 9 bronze medals. With the second-most medals earned, only behind Norway with 41.
Freestyle Skiing
Elizabeth Lemley won the gold medal in the Women’s Freestyle Skiing Moguls with a score of 82.30, finishing ahead of American teammate Jaelin Kauf, who won the silver medal with a score of 80.77. In the Mixed Team Aerials, the USA won gold. Alex Ferreira won gold in the Men’s Freeski Halfpipe with a score of 93.75, narrowly beating out Estonia’s 19-year-old Henry Sildaru.
Speed Skating
In the Men’s 1000m Speed Skating event, Jordan Stolz claimed the gold medal with an astounding time of 1:06.28, setting a new Olympic record in the event. Jordan already holds the world record for the 1000m Speed Skating event, which was not at the Olympics.
Alpine Skiing
Breezy Johnson won gold in the Women’s Alpine Skiing Downhill event on February 8th. She was the first U.S. skier to win gold in the 2026 Games, finishing with a time of 1:36.10, a major comeback after her 2022 knee injury.
Figure Skating
The USA Figure Skating team defended its title, winning consecutive gold medals at the Olympics. The respective athletes for Team USA are Ilia Malinin, Alyssa Liu, Ellie Kam, Danny O’Shea, Amber Glenn, Madison Chock, and Evan Bates. The USA took victory over Japan with a score of 69 points to Japan’s 68. Alyssa Liu also won gold for the Women’s Single Skating.
Ice Hockey
The USA Women’s Hockey Team won gold after defeating Canada 2-1 in overtime. Megan Keller scored the winning goal for the USA. The USA Men’s Hockey Team defeated Canada 2-1 in overtime to win the gold medal, after a goal from Jack Hughes ended Canada’s dream of a gold medal.
Bobsleigh
Elana Meyers Taylor won the gold medal in the Women’s Monobob with a final time of 3:57.93, narrowly beating Germany’s Laura Nolte, who finished with a final time of 3:57.97.
