On Wednesday, September 10th, I had the pleasure of interviewing one of our art teachers, Mrs. Lindner. Specifically, I asked her about the 2025-2026 Honors Art class. Below are some of the questions I asked her…

Swinehart: Do you have a theme for the 25-26 Honors Art class?
Lindner: “No theme, but we are going to be doing a 3D sculpture; we are adding 3 dimensionality to our portfolios this year.”
Swinehart: What project are you most excited about?
Lindner: “The sculpture”
Swinehart: What is your overall goal for your art students?
Lindner: “To grow not only in technique and skill but to find their inner creativity and build that, and to also foster an appreciation for the arts, not just visual art but all the arts, performing arts included.”
Swinehart: Is there a “big” or a “main” art project this year?
Lindner: “The sculpture is the most hefty and the one that will take the most time.”
Swinehart: Can you explain the current art project(s)?

Lindner: “Each of the students will pick an animal that resonates with their personality, and they will morph it with their self-portrait. We will also add an element or a symbol that represents something to each student. That is a drawing, so it can be colored or graphite, and they can use ink too. We are also doing an anatomy study, and you are picking a part of your body or someone else’s, and you are focusing on it and hyper zooming in on it, making it an interesting composition and really paying attention to the anatomy of the body part that you chose, and that is an acrylic painting.”
Swinehart: Is there anything else you would like future students to know about Honors Art?
Lindner: “They have to be able to multitask and be able to pay attention to the time that we have to get stuff done. It is a rigorous class, so you are doing a lot of things, a lot of projects are going to be going on at the same time, so students really have to time manage and make sure they are getting to each of those projects respectively.”
